ASSISTEENS OF ORANGE
2019-20

ASSISTEENS AUXILIARY
Assisteens is an auxiliary of Assistance League of Orange that encourages and provides
volunteer opportunities for young people in grades 8 through 12. The goals are to develop a
sense of community responsibility, self-reliance, personal responsibility, poise, public speaking, team building, and leadership skills.
In 2018-19, through selected programs, Assisteens gave over 3,000 hours of service to the Orange community.
Each year backpacks are filled with toiletries for school children and new uniforms are distributed. During the holidays, gifts are wrapped with care for adopted families. The Assisteens work side-by-side with chapter
members at the Thrift Shop. Monthly Bingo games are held at the senior centers for a little added joy. Assisteens also participate in various fundraising events
for the chapter. Some of our favorites are Street Fair, Boutique Noel, Taste of Orange, and Embrace Orange. Monthly meetings are held at the Assistance League Chapter House in quaint Old Town Orange where members
discuss ideas and report on upcoming events. Guest speakers are invited
to discuss topics of interest to auxiliary members.
Assisteens membership provides many opportunities to develop leadership skills.
Social and fundraising events are held
throughout the year.
There are over 100 high school young women and men participating in Assisteens Auxiliary with
high schools throughout Orange, Villa Park and adjacent areas represented. Family participation is
always encouraged and appreciated in Assisteens.
